Virtual West End for Cyber Shoppers

Set to launch in October of 2009, an all new initiative for online shopping is taking form to represent London’s West End shopping district. A virtual mock-up of many popular stores will offer an unparalleled form of shopping which allows for a Second Life and The Sims-like environment. The Alex Wrottesley masterminded project will go beyond just accurate mapping of the West End’s shopping landscape but also include relevant weather forecasts and current newspaper updates. With some of world’s most respected stores found in the West End, there is some skepticism to viability of this project as well as disdain if it does take-off. If the Virtual West End is as successful as planned, it could spell doom for the thousands of employed workers at these retail establishments as conveniences such as clean streets and no need to find parking are among the positives that make this virtual world more appealing. For more information on the Virtual West End, check Business.TimesOnline.co.uk.

McLaren SLR Stirling Moss

With a few different automotive makers taking a pass on the upcoming Detroit Auto Show, the Mercedes Benz and McLaren partnership has offered a bright spot as they look to present their SLR Stirling Moss, the last car to be produced under the MB/McLaren union. A first glance at the car’s exterior features an innovative long-reaching frame with a special windshield-less experience for an unsurpassed road experience. With a legendary racing pedigree, the SLR also pays homage to British race car driver Stirling Moss, who’s still the current record holder for the Mille Miglia. On a performance side of things, the SLR Stirling Moss will make the sprint of 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 217 mph despite the seemingly unaerodynamic cockpit.

Air Jordan 1 Laser / Premier Pack

Adding to their massive roster for 2008, the Jordan camp introduces two new colorways for their timeless Jordan 1 silhouette. Mixing it up from the more toned down releases, one of the models gets a full red upper alongside contrasting laces and army green accenting, sharing similarities to modern gucci motifs. The second pair combines a black and khaki colorway with the signature laser etching technique along the front and toe panels. Both offer a unique and distinct look gravitating the brand into a territory of fashion geared pieces rather than its roots in basketball performance sneakers. They have hit select Asia accounts including Shoe Planet Japan, with a US release rumored to be in November of this year. Via Hypebeast
